FC Dinamo Brest have set a record for the oldest player to appear in Belarus' top division after their 56-year-old assistant coach came on as a late substitute.
Yuri Pudyshev, who was a member of the Dinamo Minsk team which won the Soviet Union league title in 1982, came on to a standing ovation against BATE Borisov last Monday. Although he couldn't prevent his team losing 2-0, he was named man of the match by the Belarusian federation.
Manager Yuri Puntus said: "I don't think Pudyshev's appearance was a clown act. I'll be glad if he can get in the Guinness Book of Records."
