Alex Ferguson proud of United’s performance in China friendly
MANCHESTER United boss Alex Ferguson was full of praise for his side's second-half performance following their 1-0 victory over Shanghai Shenhua.
Summer signing Shinji Kagawa scored his first goal for United midway through the second half as United won the Chevrolet China Cup at the Shanghai Stadium.
Shenhua, who were without former Chelsea duo Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba, defended deep as the visitors struggled to break them down in the first half.
However, Kagawa's presence behind the frontman caused Sergio Batista's side plenty of problems in the second period, with substitutes Bebe and Paul Scholes both having chances to extend their team's advantage.
"I was very pleased with the way we played very well in the second half," Ferguson said. "In the first half we had a lot of possession but lacked penetration and speed of play.
"It's been a great workout, they were very well organised. They weren't easy to play against."
