Sky Sports will look very different on Tuesday....here's how it will affect Irish viewers
Sky Sports are shaking up their channel line-up in a bid to give viewers a chance to select the specific sports they want to watch, but there will be no increase in subscriptions fees yet.
The UK broadcaster has invested huge sums of money in their sports coverage over the last two decades, with their vast investment in Premier League football helping to establish Sky as the biggest player in television sport in UK and Ireland.
Yet with the widespread use of illegal online streams proving to be a major threat to Sky's business model, they are exploring new avenues to target their potential audience.
The end result is the biggest shake-up of Sky Sports yet, with 10 re-branded channels hitting our screens on Tuesday.
For the first time, Sky Sports will also offer something for fans not looking for the full breadth of sports, but are interested in specific sports.
The new line-up is designed to grow this customer base and offers flexibility to subscribe to individual channel packages at a new price.
Fees for Irish subscribers will remain at their current levels for now, but they will not be able to pick the channels they want just just yet. That option may be rolled out to the Irish market at a later date.
