Conor Sammon has been handed the task of filling Robbie Keane's boots in Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Austria.

The Derby frontman will partner Shane Long in attack with Keane having been ruled out of the game with a calf strain after a scan on Sunday. Elsewhere, manager Giovanni Trapattoni will keep faith with the bulk of the side which started Friday night's 0-0 draw in Sweden with Glenn Whelan returning from an ankle injury in place of Paul Green.

Team: David Forde; Seamus Coleman, John O'Shea (Capt), Ciaran Clark, Marc Wilson; Jon Walters, Glenn Whelan, James McCarthy, James McClean; Shane Long, Conor Sammon.
