Zane Kirchner in line for Leinster debut as Brian O'Driscoll remains doubtful
South African import Zane Kirchner is in line for his debut against Connacht in the Rabo this weekend but Brian O'Driscoll remains doubtful.
BOD has resumed light training along with prop Mike Ross and the condition of both will be monitored over the next few days ahead of the team announcement on Friday ahead of the game at the RDS on Saturday evening.
Lote Tuqiri has recovered from the hamstring strain he suffered in the defeat to Munster and could be in line to start along with fellow summer recruit Kirchner.
"Brian's day-to-day at the moment. He's making improvements as you'd expect. Exactly the same with Mike Ross and Lote Tuqiri," Leinster manager Guy Easterby said.
"They all have a chance of playing and they all have a chance of not playing as well.
"I think we're moving in the right direction. We came off a tough away game against Ospreys and then played the Top 14 champions."
Shane Jennings has recovered fully from injury and could feature but Andrew Goodman is still a few weeks away from full fitness.
After two draining Heineken Cup weekends which yielded priceless victories over the Ospreys and Castres, Leinster are expected to rest a number of their big names this weekend.
There was also good news for Richardt Strauss who had successful surgery on his heart last week and Easterby confirmed that the hooker will play top flight rugby in the future.
“Richardt Strauss had his operation last week and they’re confident he’ll be back playing at some point in the future,” said Easterby today. “We’re told that he’ll almost definitely have no issue at all playing again.”
