Wilkinson to provide early French test for Sexton

Jonathan Sexton - no let-up for out-half
Jonathan Sexton - no let-up for out-half

THERE will be no let-up for Ireland out-half Jonathan Sexton as he faces a baptism of fire against European kingpins Toulon in his first away match with Racing Metro next month .

Sexton is getting married just days after he returns from the Lions tour and will have little time to dwell on his heroics in Australia after he returns from his week-long honeymoon.

Both Sexton and Racing Metro's new assistant/kicking coach Ronan O'Gara will certainly have to hit the ground running as their first two away matches are at Toulon and Toulouse.

The Irish pair will be able to ease into the new season with a home tie in their first Top 14 match against Brive on the weekend of August 16-17.

Sexton is likely to go toe-to-toe with Jonny Wilkinson the following week when Racing travel to take on Heineken Cup champions Toulon.

The following week Sexton will be reunited with former Leinster colleague Damien Browne, now with newly promoted Oyonnax.

Racing Metro will travel to Toulouse on the first weekend in September while the first Paris derby of the season will take place in late October when Racing host Stade Francais. The French clubs will have played nine rounds of their domestic league by the time the Heineken Cup starts in October.
