World class Australian flanker David Pocock will miss the Brumbies next two Super Rugby fixtures after he was disciplined for a highly dangerous neck grasp on the Chief's Michael Leitch.
Pocock pleaded guilty to the charge of dangerous play, and was suspended from all rugby until April 25 by Sanzaar duty judicial officer Adam Cassleden. He will only miss two matches, with the Brumbies having the bye this weekend.
Pocock grabbed Leitch around the neck during a maul with six minutes to go in the encounter, which the Brumbies won 48-23 on Saturday night, and despite the fact that the Japanese star was tapping Pocock to indicate that he couldn't breathe, the Aussie didn't relent.
Pocock's early plea, his good character, his genuine remorse and his excellent disciplinary record were factors in the leniency of the sentence.
