Twomey gets academy role

MUNSTER are set to announce UCC coach Conor Twomey as their new Academy manager on a three-year contract, WRITES HUGH FARRELLY.

Twomey, a hooker who represented Munster at Schools and U-20 levels and played for Cork Constitution and Dolphin in the All-Ireland League, is understood to be replacing Ian Sherwin in overseeing the talent production line in the province.

The 40-year-old has been coaching UCC for the past five years, working with players such as Ian Nagle and Scott Deasy and he is understood to be taking a three-year sabbatical from his job with Permanent TSB.
