Strauss facing surgery as ankle injury brings season to an end

RICHARDT STRAUSS' season is almost certainly over after it was confirmed he suffered ankle ligament damage at the weekend.

Strauss, who made his international debut in November, is facing the prospect of surgery to repair the injury and will be out of action for at least 12 weeks, according to Ireland team manager Mick Kearney.

"It's a similar injury to the one suffered by Brian O'Driscoll and it's very hard to see him coming back before the season is over," said Kearney.

Meanwhile, no one in Munster has been able to shed light on reports in the French media that BJ Botha is set to join Toulon at the end of the season.
