The game was played at a frantic pace with both teams willing to vary their game and consistently playing good phases throughout.

The score was kept low in the first half by some good defensive work but Killorglin held the advantage at the break, leading 7-0.

The second half was played at much the same pace as the first half with both teams scoring a try each, leaving Killorglin holding a slender five-point lead going into the final 10 minutes. But with both sides trying to finish off the game, gaps started to appear and Killorglin ran in two more unanswered tries.

Both teams played in great spirit and were led by example by the two captains on the day Jesse McCormack (ISK) and Jason Woulfe (SMI).

At the final whistle Killorglin were worthy winners by 22-7.

Many thanks to Chris Harrington who refereed the game and to Castleisland RFC for allowing the use of their facilities.

Scorers – ISK Killorglin: S O'Neill 2 tries, T Clifford, K Byrne try each, J McCormack con.

SMI Newcastle West: E Ambrose try, M Bourke con.
