The mood among Irish fans was downbeat after the loss to Scotland in the Six Nations last Saturday, but at least supporters can find some solace in the fact that six Ireland stars have made the official team of the week despite the opening day defeat.

Compiled by Accenture, who do the official stats for the tournament, a sextet of Irishmen were deemed to be the best in their respective positions after one week of action. Props Jack McGrath and Tadhg Furlong both made the cut, as did Ireland's two flankers, CJ Stander and Sean O'Brien.

The team's halfback combination of Conor Murray and Paddy Jackson were also both selected, bringing Ireland's total to six - three more than Scotland, despite Vern Cotter's side coming out on top.

Wales have three players in the team, France have two, and England have one.

Here is the full team:

15. Stuart Hogg (Scotland)

14. Noa Nakaitaci (France)

13. Jonathan Davies (Wales)

12. Owen Farrell (England)

11. Liam Williams (Wales)

10. Paddy Jackson (Ireland)

9. Conor Murray (Ireland)

1. Jack McGrath (Ireland)

2. Ross Ford (Scotland)

3. Tadhg Furlong (Ireland)

4. Richie Gray (Scotland)

5. Alun Wyn Jones (Wales)

6. CJ Stander (Ireland)

7. Sean O'Brien (Ireland)

8. Louis Picamoles (France)
