Shelbourne Hotel pays tribute to long-term guest Brian O’Driscoll

Ireland's Brian O'Driscoll will step out in the Aviva for the last time in a green jersey this weekend.

Brian O’Driscoll is staying with the Irish team at the Shelbourne Hotel this weekend for the final time and the hotel was keen to mark the occasion.

Tributes have been coming thick and fast all week for O’Driscoll in what will be his final appearance in Dublin in a green jersey before he ends a glittering career in Paris next weekend.

The Leinster centre has said that the praise has at times been “over the top” and conceded he was “lucky” to get to where he is, but the Italian clash will mark an end of an era.

The Shelbourne Hotel has had O’Driscoll as a regular since making his international debut in 1999 and they were keen to mark this weekend with a gesture.

While it’s doubtful the centre indulged too much in the bottle of whiskey, it was a fitting gesture for the man who will become the most capped international of all-time against the Italians.

“Unbelievable touch by @theshelbourne for my last weekend staying here with the team. Huge thanks,” he tweeted.
