Ireland coach Joe Schmidt has said that Racing Metro have helped in getting Jonathan Sexton back to fitness.
The former Leinster outhalf was along with Peter O’Mahony the major injury concern, but while the Munster flanker will be absent tomorrow against the Italians, Sexton will take his place for the penultimate game of the Six Nations.
Schmidt, who has in the past had choice comments over the number of games that Sexton plays fro Racing, has been fulsome praise for the Parisians.
A niggling hand injury has healed and despite fears that excessive game time in France would hamper his international aspirations, Schmidt has said that the French club have first class in their treatment of the number 10.
“Racing have been really good value,” Schmidt said.
“They know how important he is to club and country.”
Sexton’s fitness means that Iain Henderson is the only change to the team that was defeated by England last time out at Twickenham.
