The Guardian have picked their top 25 Six Nations players and an Irishman is number one

Irish players are featuring heavily in the English media's ultimate Six Nations team selections and that trend has continued today as the Guardian pick their top 25 players to play in the tournament.

And it is the now-retired Brian O'Driscoll who takes the number one spot while Paul O'Connell was voted the third best to ever grace the competition.

The Guardian asked a panel of seven experts - Accenture Analytics, Robert Kitson, Eddie Butler, Paul Rees, Mike Averis, Michael Aylwin and Ian Malin with five Irish making the cut; Keith Wood (8), Johnny Sexton (16) and Ronan O'Gara were the others to be included.
