Six Nations: Joe Schmidt looking forward to the Welsh challenge

Published 06/02/2014 | 21:05

With both sides winning their opening Six Nations games, Joe Schmidt is eagerly looking forward to the challenge of taking on reigning champions Wales at the weekend.

The head coach has made just two changes to the starting XV, with Paul O’Connell and Gordon D’Arcy coming back into the team after their illness.

“With Gordon it’s just that he is fresher than Luke after he was knocked around at the weekend, a reversal of last week.”

Schmidt also took Warren Gatland’s comments about Ireland being such an offensively astute side under his stewardship with a pinch of salt.

“I think he may have been saying that hoping that will try something a little over-complicated,” he said.
