There were mixed emotions displayed on Twitter from both sets of players in the aftermath of England’s 21-10 defeat of Ireland at Twickenham.
There were tweets from all three Irish debutants, with Ultan Dillane, Josh van der Flier and Stuart McCloskey all posting pictures of their caps.
McCloskey tweeted: “Pity about the result yesterday but great to get the 1st cap, thanks to everyone for all the messages before” along with a photo alongside fellow newboys Dillane and van der Flier .
Another post- match tweet came from Mike Brown, who received stinging criticism online after the controversial incident with Conor Murray where it appeared he kicked the Irish scrum-half in the head.
Brown replied to a supportive fan saying: “thank you! Video ref clearly showed I didn’t and kicked the ball”.
Man of the Match Billy Vunipola was quick to post his joy after the game.
Thanks everyone for the support, it's been a dream come true to get my first cap despite the result. pic.twitter.com/MMNKttK5KI— Ultan Dillane (@Ultan_Dillane) February 28, 2016
