Three Chariots on fire
NO LESS than three chariots will march on Ireland this weekend seeking a Grand Slam.
The first opportunity to make a clean sweep will fall to the women when they pitch up in Ashbourne on Friday night (7.30).
Having achieved the Grand Slam in 2008 and 2010, England's women certainly know how to deliver, while Alex Gray's U-20s will be seeking their first Slam since 2008 when they kick off 15 minutes later in Athlone.
The men's Grand Slam has been achieved 34 times over the past 100 years, while there have been 21 failures at the final hurdle. England have won 12, their last success coming in 2003 when they completed the feat with victory in Dublin.
Current England skipper Mike Tindall, Jonny Wilkinson and Steve Thompson all featured in that game, while Martin Johnson had his scrum coach Graham Rowntree with him in the pack.
