Two rugby supporters were hugely disappointed to miss out on a photo opportunity with the man-of-the-moment o’Driscoll after his emotional send-off against Italy at the weekend.

Two of O’Driscoll biggest supporters spoke to Ray D’Arcy this morning following an email they’d sent to the show telling the story of a missed opportunity with the rugby hero.

After attending Saturday’s game, Niall and Michelle made their way to the Four Seasons Hotel in Dublin in the hope that they could bag a picture with the man of the moment, Brian O’Driscoll. Michelle managed to meet many of the players, but unfortunately missed a photo opportunity with her hero.

It was only the following day, that a friend of the couple’s noticed a familiar face lurking in the background of one of their photos., who just happened to be none other than O’Driscoll himself!

Niall had missed him, much to Michelle’s devastation.

Today they spoke to Ray about this missed opportunity when, surprise, surprise, Brain O’Driscoll himself rang into The Ray D’Arcy Show to chat to the couple to make up for the disappointment.

Brian told Ray: “We’re literally preparing to have some breakfast now, a late breakfast, and we heard you up there so we just said we’d give you a quick call and say hi”.

Speaking to Michelle, Brian said: “I’m sorry I missed you on Saturday, I didn’t vanish off early - I was the last one on the bus...I hope you had a good day, I had a good one”. He added, “We’ll have to sort out the picture another time”.

Brian chatted to Ray about last Saturday’s match – while keeping a watchful eye on daughter Sadie, who was ‘ripping the place apart’ – and about all the touching messages he’s received.

He also poked fun at Ray for asking a serious “Ronan O’Gara” question about the mood in the camp in the run-up to Saturday’s clash in Paris.
