TEARS rolled down Amy Huberman's cheeks as her injured husband came off the pitch dazed and confused in what was possibly his last match for Ireland.

The new mother clung on to baby Sadie as the nation's hero struggled following a clash with a French paper.

O'Driscoll went off for a time - during which France scored their only try - before summoning again his superhuman reserves to return to the pitch and help Ireland hold on for a draw, which was the least they deserved.

The game has been widely mooted as the Leinster star's last competitive match for Ireland on home soil.

"Very few get to go out on their own terms," said rugby pundit Neil Francis.

"He has his legacy; he has his health intact, this is as good a time as any to go."
