Sheehan inspires Monkstown

CBC Monkstown 17
St Andrew's 7

CBC MONKSTOWN progressed to the final of the Vinnie Murray Cup with a comfortable victory over St Andrew's at Wanderers RFC.

Monkstown got off to an impressive start when a brilliant cross-field kick by talented out-half Aaron Sheehan released winger Robert Hallam to grab the opening try in the 20th minute.

Sheehan converted from under the posts but St Andrew's hit back on the half-hour through captain Josh Barrington, who touched down following a tapped penalty.

After a Sheehan penalty made it 10-7, Ronan Banaghan scrambled over the line to increase CBC's lead following a maul four minutes into the second half. Sheehan converted.
