Sexton kicks Racing to third win of season
Jonny Sexton kicked 14 points for Racing Metro to help hold off a late rally and defeat Perpignan 19-16 at Stade Yves-du-Manoir last night.
Racing led at the break 9-6 thanks to three penalties by Sexton, in response to two Tommy Allan kicks for Perpignan.
The former Leinster out-half converted two more in the second half and also kicked a conversion after full-back Benjamin Fall crossed the whitewash for Racing's try.
Sexton, however, narrowly missed a drop-goal attempt
A nervy finish was set up when Allan made it 19-16 with 12 minutes to go.
There were 77 minutes on the clock when Wales out-half James Hook lined up a penalty from the halfway line that would have ended the game in a tie.
His effort was just short of its mark and Racing had their third win of the season.
