Scrum-half options

Conor Murray

The man in possession since late last season, Murray led Munster's charge towards a Celtic League title and made his debut for Ireland in the pre-World Cup friendlies, ultimately bouncing club colleagues Stringer and O'Leary from Declan Kidney's final 30.

From Grand Slam winner and potential Lions tourist, to injury cruelly cutting short that dream, the former Cork under-age hurler has seen his stock slump and, despite being afforded every opportunity by Ireland last year following injury, he failed to make the World Cup cut.

Perennial Munster favourite and one half of world rugby's most enduring half-back partnership with Ronan O'Gara, Stringer suddenly became old-fashioned post-ELVs and even Kidney was sensing decline when he dropped him during Munster's 2008 Heineken Cup-winning run. Now on loan to Saracens.
