Honours even in thrilling final
CBS 16 Crescent Comp 16 Munster Junior Cup Final
Irish Independent Park played host to a thrilling and tense draw in the Clayton Hotels decider.
There was a great ebb and flow to the game and neither side deserved to lose; the replay will take place on Wednesday, April 6 in Thomond Park.
CBC started strongly, making good use of their power carriers up front. Conor O'Sullivan and Mark Donnelly were superb with ball in hand. The pressure was rewarded when Conor Walsh pounced on a loose ball out of a scrum to sneak over in the corner.
Crescent struck back immediately. Their impressive 10-13 axis of John Hurley, Jack Delaney and Jamin Hoffman regularly cut open the CBC defence. Hurley reduced the deficit with a penalty before Oisín Evans touched down.
Christians' Billy Cain and Hurley exchanged penalties leaving Crescent holding an 11-8 lead at half-time
Cain levelled the scores early in the second half as his side dominated territory. CBC regained the lead when O'Sullivan powered over after a patient build-up, with the try-scorer carrying numerous times in the build up to the score.
Crescent had struggled to get into the game but pulled together a great flowing move that was magnificently finished off by winger Ben Carew to level the scores.
Christians came close to snatching a win, with Cain narrowly missing a difficult penalty and drop-goal late on.
