Catholic University School qualified for the final for the first time when replacement Josh Fallon-Doran sprinted away for the decisive try against Wesley at Stradbrook yesterday.

The Leeson Street school always managed to stay one step ahead of Wesley, getting the opening try from their centre David Beakey and striking again on half-time through prop Tadhg Doyle, with wing Colm Driver converting to give them a 12-3 lead.

Wesley needed a quick score to get back into the game and they didn't have to wait too long for it.

No 8 Josh van der Flier broke for the line and centre Greg Hawe converted to make it a tight squeeze until Fallon-Doran made his intervention in the 56th minute to seal victory for CUS.

Devin strikes to give Bray second chance

Newbridge 14

Pres Bray 14

These two will have to do battle all over again after Pres Bray centre Karl Devin's last-minute try, converted by David Downey, produced deadlock at Coolmine RFC.

It was nip-and-tuck the whole way, with Newbridge forging a 7-0 lead through their superb fly-half Peter Osbourne's try and conversion.

Pres Bray responded quickly on the restart. Hooker Cormac O'Meara got in at the corner and Downey landed a wonder conversion from tight to the touchline.

The tide turned back in Newbridge's favour when Osbourne appeared on the scene for his second try, which he duly converted.

It looked like it would be enough to secure victory for Newbridge only for Devin to strike right at the death.

Newbridge College -- J Jennings; P O'Neill, B O'Connor, W O'Brien (Capt) (D McConville 30), R Buckley; P Osbourne, C Murtagh; D Rigney, C Kings, B O' Donnell, E Dempsey (J Hogan 65), B Scully, C Dempsey (R Snell 65), C Fagan, J Connolly.
