Deane puts seal on shock Bandon win
Bandon Grammar 13 St Munchin's Col 11
There was a major upset at the UL 4G pitch when Bandon Grammar saw off St Munchin's.
It was an eventful week for the Limerick side who lost their first round by two points against Ardscoil Ris and then lodged an objection which was thrown out and the game against Bandon was scheduled for Bandon but the pitch there was unplayable and the game was brought to Limerick.
This was expected to be an advantage to Munchin's who got off to a terrific start when Jason Kiely kicked a penalty after only two minutes when Bandon were offside.
It was 3-3 at the interval with Luke Kingston kicking a penalty for Bandon and he had his side in front four minutes into the second half with a second penalty.
The lead was short-lived with Kiely landing his second penalty for St Munchin's six minutes later.
Five minutes from the end second-row Colin Deane had a Bandon try which Kingston converted but St Munchin's hit back with their second-row, Conor Radcliffe, getting a try.
Even had it been converted it would not have given St Munchin's a quarter-final spot as Bandon launched into lengthy, and deserved, celebrations.
