Crowley grabs key score
Cistercian Roscrea 12 CBC Monkstown 6
Roscrea scored two tries in three minutes as they got the better of Monkstown in miserable conditions at Castle Avenue.
Centres Adi Donovan and Philip O'Shea did the damage for the breakthrough score, O'Shea's footwork and speed making room for Donovan to take his inside pass to the line in the 27th minute. Full-back Tadhg Bird added the conversion.
It didn't take Roscrea long to increase the advantage when Donovan broke to within 10 metres of the line for scrum-half Finbarr Crowley to dive over smartly to make it 12-0 at the break.
CBC needed something to get them going and they found it from James Reynolds penalty in the 38th minute.
The full-back returned for his second three-pointer for offside in the 55th minute.
However, they could not create the chance they were looking for and Roscrea progressed to a last-eight clash with Gonzaga.
