David Cartmill snatched a final berth from Wallace's grasp with a try two minutes from time at Ravenhill as Academy completed a sterling comeback.
The centre, who scored all of his side's points, steamed over and converted to book Academy a place in the March 17 showpiece.
Wallace had led 12-3 at the break, having scored two clinically-taken tries on rare sorties into opposition territory.
The first came on seven minutes from out-half Matthew Godfrey, with centre Andrew Gilmore adding the extras. On 29 minutes, lock Stewart Evans forced his way over out wide.
In between, Cartmill slotted over a penalty and saw another effort hit the post.
BRA dominated the second half, but the Wallace defence held firm, restricting Cartmill to two regulation penalties, the second coming 15 minutes from the end to ensure a dramatic finish.
It looked as though Wallace would hold out, but Cartmill broke their resistance at the death.
