Browne power-play crucial as CBC see off spirited Glenstal
Glenstal Abbey 3
Munster Schools Senior Cup
GREATER power up front helped CBC into the semi-finals as they saw off Glenstal Abbey at Temple Hill yesterday.
CBC started well and made the pressure count in the 33rd minute when back-row Yasin Browne forced his way over and Darragh McNamara converted for a 7-0 half-time lead.
The home side extended that lead after the interval when good work by the pack allowed CBC out-half Brendan Monohan to score a drop goal, and the game looked over.
But, to their credit, Glenstal never wilted and began to exert more pressure, putting Christians -- reduced to 14 after a yellow card for Dean Nolan -- on the back foot.
Despite going close to the line a couple of times, the most they could yield was a penalty from Conor Kearns on 56 minutes and when McNamara cancelled that out near the end, CBC were assured of victory.
