Scallon brace sinks Leinster

SCHOOLS RUGBY

Wing wizard Stephen Scallon was the Munster hero with a brace of tries that broke Leinster to claim the 'A' Schools Interprovincial title 22-11 at Donnybrook yesterday.

The Newtown flyer stretched over in the 26th minute to put Munster in front at the interval. Leinster applied plenty of pressure, but Scallon and openside Richard Kingston added further tries. .

The international show jumping classes kick off at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) in Birmingham tonight with Denis Lynch, Billy Twomey, Shane Breen and Cian O'Connor bidding for world-ranking points, WRITES LOUISE PARKES.

The leading Irish riders will have their sights firmly fixed on Sunday's closer, the Leading Showjumper of the Year title which Twomey previously claimed in 2008.

The £22,500 prize-fund pales into insignificance compared to the €285,000 on offer in the Grand Prix at the final of the Global Champions Tour (GCT) in Abu Dhabi next month -- Lynch and Twomey have both qualified.
