Connacht Eagles are still looking for their first win in the competition after Dean Richards' Newcastle scored six tries against them at Dubarry Park.

Connacht's second string were dominated by a powerful Falcons side who built their victory on their vastly superior scrum.

The visitors hit the front after just three minutes when prop Oliver Tomaszczyk crashed over.

Tadgh Leader kept the Eagles in touch with a penalty on 14 minutes, but Scottish international Ally Hogg's try soon after gave the Falcons a 10-3 lead.

Jimmy Gopperth rounded off a set line-out move under the posts for the visitors' third try in the 28th minute and his conversion gave Newcastle a 17-3 lead at the break. They sealed a bonus point early in the second half through Alex Tait.

Andy Higgins then crossed over, and a penalty try late on was just reward for the dominant scrum.
