ALAN TYNAN scored two tries but still ended up on the losing team as Newbridge deservedly overcame Cistercian Roscrea in Carlow.
Newbridge led from the fifth minute when winger Gavin Burke kicked a penalty, and they went further ahead courtesy of James Healy's try.
Roscrea hit back with a try from Tynan, but Newbridge quickly replied through centre Jake Howlett to leave it 13-5 at half-time.
A second Tynan try three minutes into the second half, converted by Tim Foley, raised Roscrea hopes at 13-12.
However, Newbridge went on to dominate the remainder of the game, with their stronger back division putting huge pressure on the opposition, and their territorial advantage was rewarded with two further well-worked tries from Mark Delaney and Jimmy O'Brien, both converted by Burke to put the seal on the victory.
