What do you love most about being a professional rugby player?
The day-to-day craic within the squad is what I love.
Do you sleep well before a game and how do you switch off after a match?
I tend to sleep quite well before games but find it hard to switch off after games. I am normally up until pretty later watching TV after a big game.
What's been the highlight of your career?
I would say the Grand Slam in 09 would have to be a stand out highlight for me.
When you were out of the game injured, did you ever fear the worst? How did you stay positive?
Yeah, injury is always a difficult time for any sportsperson, there are times when the rehab is not going as well as you would hope and doubts creep in. We are lucky to play in a team sport so the players around you are brilliant at picking you up on bad days and giving you the motivation to push hard and get yourself back.
If you weren't a rugby player, what sport would you like to play professionally?
I think I'd like to be a golfer.
What are your hobbies and interests outside of rugby?
I got my private pilot's licence last summer, I haven't been out much since, but I plan on doing a bit more of that when the weather is better.
You have a number of business projects, would you ever consider going into business with another rugby player?
I don't know about that, I think the nice thing about having projects outside of rugby is it gets you away from rugby for a bit.
How style conscious are you?
Like most men, I take pride in what I wear and like to look good but I wouldn't always say I'm the most stylish.
Who are your style icons on the Irish rugby team and why?
I don't know about style icons but guys like Rob and Trimby would be guys who would wear decent clothes.
