Paul O'Connell's rehabilitation from the hamstring injury which ended his Rugby World Cup is not going according to plan, according to reports in the French media.
Midi Olympique, who ran a story today with a very unsavoury headline about Ian Madigan and Jonathan Sexton, are reporting that the Limerick man is 'still struggling' with the hamstring injury he suffered in the victory over France in October.
The 36-year-old has yet to feature for French giants Toulon and it looks like he may have to wait another while before he can run out at the Stade Mayol.
O'Connell will undergo further scans this week and the reigning European champions may decide to bring in a 'medical joker' as cover.
Toulon have the option of ending O'Connell's contract after the year, so there is a possibility that he may never line out competitively for his new team.
