While the main programme for Anthony Eddy's side begins in the new year, the tournament in Dubai offers an ideal opportunity for plenty of new faces to impress.

The likes of Adam Byrne, Tom Daly, Barry Daly, Rory O'Loughlin, Dan Goggin and Alex Wootton have all featured in the Pro12 this season off the back of their performances with the Sevens and there will be plenty more looking to follow their lead.

Fionn Carr will add plenty of experience to what is largely a young squad, while it will be fascinating to see how former Munster winger Luke O'Dea fares.

O'Dea is back after a spell in France with Lille and will certainly look at this as an opportunity to impress potential suitors.

Ireland begin their tournament against a German development side before a meeting with Zambia and finally against Georgia.

Dubai 7s fixtures: Ireland v Germany Development, 10.0am (Irish time), Ireland v Zambia, 12.20, Ireland v Georgia, 2.20
