The Irish rugby men’s stars were quick to praise their female counterparts after their historic win over New Zealand yesterday.

The girls in green defeated New Zealand 17-14 in the World Cup Pool B match which leaves them in pole position to emerge from the group.

After the 2013 Grand Slam, this was another sign of real progress against the team that have been unbeaten in a World Cup since 1991.

Joe Schmidt’s team came agonisingly close to a first ever scalp of the All Blacks last November, and the boys were quick to laud the achievements of Philip Doyle’s side.
