The greatest gathering of rugby celebrities ever to visit the county are coming to Carlow on Saturday, April 9 for a Gala Evening organised by County Carlow Football Club in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel.

The celebrity cast will be headed by Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt, who will be flanked by Sean O'Brien, Mike Ross and retired women's captain Fiona Coughlan (as well as some other surprise guests)

There will be a supporting team of Irish U-20 internationals and Leinster's Tom Daly, Bryan and Ed Byrne.

The theme of the Gala Evening will be about leadership both on and off the rugby pitch. Schmidt will give a unique insight into his approach to leadership which has delivered record success with Leinster and Ireland.

The event has been organised as a fundraiser for Carlow to help finance a major pitch improvement project.

Attendees at the Gala reception and dinner will be able to mingle with the celebrities as well as taking part in the special question and answer session. The evening will also include an auction of signed jerseys from all four provinces.

Carlow president Pat Slater predicts that this will be a memorable once-off occasion for the community. In addition to the names confirmed the organisers are awaiting confirmation from other national rugby figures hoping to attend.

Individuals or corporate companies can either purchase individual tickets places at €100 each or book a table of 12 for €1,200. Tickets will be allocated on a first come basis. For further information please visit www.carlowrugby.ie
