Former Ireland international Peter Stringer has signed a new contract extension with Aviva Premiership side Sale Sharks that will take him close to his 40th birthday.
The evergreen scrum-half has agreed a new contract extension after signing an initial one-year deal last year.
The 98-cap international has made an impression at a number of top-flight clubs over the past five years.
He initially enjoyed loan spells with Saracens and Newcastle before spending two years with Bath.
Sale's Director of Rugby Steve Diamond expressed his satisfaction at the contract news.
“Peter is a model professional who is incredibly fit and shows no signs of getting old. He has brought our backline to life this season,” he said.
"He is a very well respected member of our squad and the younger lads have all benefitted from Peter being here."
One of the most decorated and respected Irish players of the professional era, the Cork native admitted that he is “delighted” at the extension.
“I am loving my rugby at Sale Sharks,” he said.
“It's a great environment and we have some very talented players at the club. The opportunity to get regular game time has given me a new lease of life"
The 38-year-old made 230 appearances for Munster during which time he won two Heineken Cups and three Celtic League titles.
The last of his 98 international caps came against England five years ago.
