McDonagh puts Munchin's into last eight

An injury-time try from captain Keelan McDonagh earned St Munchin's College a 24-19 victory over Castletroy College at Thomond Park to reach the quarter-finals of the Munster Schools Senior Cup.

A try and penalty from Jason Kiely put Munchin's 10-0 in front, but Conor Bermingham responded for Castletroy. Tyrone O'Halloran had another for Munchin's but Kieran O'Shea had another Castletroy try to leave it 17-12 at half-time.

Muiris Rowe's try, converted by Stephen Atkinson, put Castletroy in front, but McDonagh had the final say.

Crescent College Comprehensive beat St Clement's College 31-7 and, in the quarter-final draw, they were paired with Cork's PBC. Munchin's will face Bandon Grammar, holders CBC will play Ardscoil Rís and Rockwell meet Glenstal.

In Connacht, champions Coláiste Iognáid continued their impressive form with victory over St Gerald's Castlebar in the Senior Cup.

The Jes were 24-0 victors in Galway as they remain top of Pool 1 with two wins from two, ahead of their final pool game against Roscommon CBS next time out.
