Ian Madigan's scintillating start with Bordeaux-Bègles has suffered a significant setback after he picked up a groin injury at the weekend.
Madigan faces up to a month on the sidelines after coming down with tendonitis in the French side's 33-27 defeat to Castres in the Top 14.
He is expected to miss upcoming games against Grenoble, La Rochelle and Stade Français this Saturday as result, with the club likely to rely on new signing Simon Hickey during his absence.
Meanwhile, Wales lock Alun Wyn Jones has withdrawn from Saturday's autumn Test series opener against Australia following the death of his father.
In a statement, the Welsh Rugby Union said: "The thoughts and prayers of the WRU and the national squad are with Alun Wyn Jones and his family following the passing of his father Tim.
"Due to this, Alun Wyn will not be considered for selection this weekend."
Tim Jones played for Swansea Rugby Club, in addition to Welsh Universities. He worked in the legal profession for 40 years.
Swansea chairman Terry Morgan told the club's official website: "His footprint on the club is of a great supporter, and like his son Alun Wyn Jones, indelible."
