EDDIE O'SULLIVAN is "definitely" interested in working with the Ospreys, who are seeking a head coach to replace Scott Johnson.

The Welsh outfit announced yesterday that Johnson will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of the season to take up a position with the Scotland national team.

Former Ireland coach O'Sullivan has been looking for a suitable post since finishing his two-and-a-half-year stint with the US Eagles after the World Cup and last night his manager, John Baker, confirmed that he would be interested in working with the Ospreys if the opportunity arose.

"Eddie O'Sullivan is definitely looking for a suitable job in rugby," said Baker. "Unlike soccer, rugby will never be a global sport and there are a limited amount of potential clubs. Is Eddie available for a position with the Ospreys? Yes he is, 100pc."

An Ospreys spokesperson described Johnson's departure as "a huge disappointment" and said the club will now consider their options in terms of seeking a replacement before making any further comment.

"He will be sadly missed by everybody," said Ospreys chief operations officer, Andrew Hore.

"Informing us of his intentions at this early stage allows us to consider our next course of action and the options available as we plan for the future."

The 49-year-old Australian, a former Wales and US Eagles coach, will become senior assistant to Andy Robinson with Scotland, with the SRU confirming that Johnson will be in place for their June tour to Australia, Fiji and Samoa.

"I have huge respect for Scott as a person and coach having coached against him on numerous occasions," said Robinson.
