O'Halloran earns replay
Crescent and CBC's fascinating rivalry will continue after their Junior Cup sides played out an entertaining draw at Tom Clifford Park.
Next Tuesday's replay will be their fourth cup meeting in less than two weeks, after Crescent narrowly came out on top in the recent Senior Cup replay.
Crescent deservedly took the lead on 15 minutes when Cian Clifford hit a drop goal in front of the posts.
The score woke CBC up, and they equalised with a penalty after some sustained pressure, Michael O'Halloran kicking the points.
Crescent thought they had a try when Conor McSweeney went over in the corner, but it was called back after he was adjudged to have put a foot in touch. But they did get a try in first-half injury-time, the impressive Billy O'Hora linking up with captain Calvin Nash to score, and Clifford kicked the extras.
CBC were much better in the second half and deservedly scored a try when second-row Daire Feeney finished a fine maul, after a dominant scrum. O'Halloran's conversion crept inside the post, levelling the sides with 15 minutes to play.
He then had a chance to push CBC into their first lead, but his penalty from a similar position was pushed wide. With time running out, Crescent almost secured the victory, but Clifford's drop goal attempt dramatically struck the post.
