Top rugby referee Nigel Owens has delivered on his promise to a Leinster ball-boy who he dished out a yellow card to last month.

With six minutes remaining during Leinster's Pro12 clash with Scarlets at the RDS on March 5, a ball was flung back into play as the Scarlets prepared to take a penalty.

Unfortunately, the ball struck the referee in the back of the head.

Owens turned to the ball boy and immediately flashed a yellow card to the delight of the crowd.

As the Scarlets prepared to take the lineout, the pair shared a smile on the sidelines.

Owens took to Twitter after the match to seek the young Irish fan. "This is why rugby is the greatest team sport in the world. Anyone know the ballboy? Will send him my match Jersey to keep. #goodsport," said Owens.

And last night, the jersey finally arrived.
