Murray puts icing on the cake

Friday February 10 2012

Despite losing by 15 points, St Andrew's College can feel pleased with their shift as they put it up to an impressive Terenure College outfit at Sydney Parade yesterday.

Andrew's are certainly making strides under David Kirk and their opening try was an excellent score.

Starting out wide on the left, the ball was moved through the hands, with wing-forward Johnny Guy touching down in the right-hand corner.

Jordan Lamour, the Andrew's centre, then sent over the conversion but Terenure quickly got on the score sheet through Sean Stanley.

That left it 7-5 at the break, with Terenure nudging ahead five minutes after the restart courtesy of a pick-and-go try from scrum-half Paddy O'Hehir.

Impressive at set-pieces, Terenure were over the line once more two minutes later through Lorcan O'Dea. And then with 15 minutes to go, second-row Rory Murray went over for a try which he then converted.

To their credit, St Andrew's finished the game well but, up against an impressive pack, just couldn't find a route over the line.
