KEY MAN

Ian Keatley

Rob Penney challenged his fly-half to find another gear this week and, with bonus points crucial, the Dubliner's display will be crucial to everything his side do. The shadow of Ronan O'Gara still looms large over Thomond Park, but a strong display can help Keatley make his own Heineken Cup mark.

THREE THINGS

MUNSTER MUST DO

1 Start as they mean to go on

An early start negates much of the normal Thomond Park effect, so the team must do what Ireland did against New Zealand and get the fans onside early.

Perpignan arrive on the back of three successive defeats and without some of their better players, so a strong opening can sow seeds of doubt in the French side's minds.

2 Win the collisions

It goes without saying really, but when you think of Perpignan you think of big men and Paul O'Connell and Peter O'Mahony must show a good example early on by meeting the Catalans' heavy hitters more than half way in the tackle.

3 Score four tries and win by

more than seven

It wasn't mentioned in their public utterances, but bonus points will be on Munster's minds tomorrow.

After leaving one behind them against Gloucester and slipping badly in Edinburgh, Penney's men should be targeting five points to leapfrog Perpignan ahead of their daunting trip to the Stade Aime Giral next week.
