Thurles Women off to a flyer in Division 1

The Munster Women's Division 1 league kicked off last weekend which saw all eight Munster clubs in action.

Thurles Women got their first round league fixture off to a flying start with a 13-10 win over Tralee RFC, who this year are new to the league, having being demoted from the All-Ireland League last season.

Clonmel overcame St Senan's 24-6, while Fermoy beat travelling Tipperary side Nenagh RFC 20-0.

Limerick side Shannon hosted Ballincollig, and claimed a 12-5 win in their opening match.

All eight teams will compete against each other in league competition the up until the end of December.

The clubs resume play in the New Year when they take part in knockout Cup competition.
