O'Gara in driving seat for Haven luxury car competition

Ireland and Munster rugby legend Ronan O'Gara was in the driving seat as he launched a new competition for leading charity Haven which could see one lucky winner bag a luxury car.

Haven, which is working on the ground to improve the life of people in Haiti, is running a competition with a BMW 116d as the prize.

O'Gara launched the competition in Dundrum Shopping Centre yesterday.

Over the coming weeks, the car will be on show in Dundrum and the Whitewater Shopping Centre in Newbridge, Co Kildare.

The winner will be chosen and notified on June 19.

All funds raised will support Haven's innovative community development projects on the ground in Haiti.

According to the latest statistics, just 27.6pc of the population in Haiti has access to proper sanitation facilities, 52pc of the rural population and 35pc of the urban population only have access to sub-standard drinking water. 

Over 760,000 cases of cholera and 9,000 deaths have been reported in the country since the outbreak began in 2010.
