The Munster coach, 42, passed away suddenly on Saturday night, leaving the rugby world in mourning.

Munster were due to play Racing 92 on Sunday in France, but the game was rescheduled due to the tragic news, and supporters flocked to the Stade Yves Du Manoir to pay their respects.

Stringer, who played with Foley for Munster and Ireland, took to Twitter to pay homage to his former teammate.

"Feeling numb and alone with only thoughts of this remarkable man," he wrote. "My protector on the field, I will miss you forever Axel. RIP"

He also changed his profile picture to a treasured image of the pair together after an Irish victory.

Foley represented Munster 202 times in his playing career, and captained the province to their first European title in 2006.

'Axel' was also capped 62 times for Ireland, and became Munster's head coach in 2011.
