Munster Senior Cup up for grabs as clubs kick off season

With just one weekend left until the opening round of the Ulster Bank League, the Munster senior clubs will look to hit top gear in the Munster Senior Cup which begins tomorrow.
The fixture of the round looks to be the meeting of Limerick's UL Bohemians and their southern rivals Cork Con, where Bohs will want to build confidence after their poor season in 2015-'16.
They finished eighth in Division 1B, only four points clear of second-from-bottom Blackrock College who subsequently were relegated to Division 2A.
The odds are stacked against the Limerick outfit as they take on the form Munster side in last year's Ulster Bank League.
Con trailed 21-3 at half-time in the Division 1A final against Clontarf in the Aviva Stadium. But they turned things around and only lost at the death, as Clontarf held on for a 28-25 victory.
It was a disappointing loss but showed how far Con had come since their eighth-placed finish in 2014-'15, a season that they will be keen to kick on from this year.
Young Munster were the other Munster side that led the way in Division 1A - they finished third before a play-off defeat to Con - last season and they begin their Senior Cup campaign with a tricky away game against Kanturk.
In the other games Shannon host Sunday's Well, Garryowen travel to take on Nenagh Ormond, Cashel are at home against Thomond, Dolphin host Highfield, while Old Crescent are at home to Midleton and UCC host Bruff.
