Munster say they want to hold on to Simon Zebo and all their other stars but realise they will face competition from England and France as a string of key players come out of contract.
Assistant coach Brian Walsh said he did not know anything about a move by Zebo to Toulouse but expects it to be the first of many stories linking players with moves abroad.
"It wouldn't surprise me if there is interest in Simon from around the place, but how hard that interest is or how interested he is I don't know," he said.
"The dynamic has changed over the last number of years and it's now a constant round of players and contracts.
"We're very keen all those players will stay here.
"We're trying to build really what is a new squad to compete for trophies over the next few years."
It was inevitable that contract stories would start emerging this week after the World Cup and Walsh agreed that the Zebo story was likely to be the first of several over the coming weeks.
"Any high-profile players are going to be linked with clubs. It's just the way the game has gone. It is almost like deadline day with soccer," said Walsh.
