The appointment of Mick O'Driscoll as technical advisor is a great move by Anthony Foley and Munster will benefit a lot in the next few seasons.
Micko and myself are good mates, we were neighbours together in in Mount Oval in Rochestown for years and used to travel together.
He was there when I started with Munster and we retired the same year, with Micko having spent a couple of seasons in Perpignan. He set up his own business, but came back into rugby with Pres and then Cork Con and now Munster.
He will be a great addition to Axel and his team. He has always been very organised and disciplined.
He will put in the hours poring over videos and has always been a great man to read line-outs.
Micko was always hugely respected in the dressing-room and he was always asked for his opinion, because it was respected and he had a good way with people.
He will be very good for player development, he has a lot of experience and a lot to offer to the new set-up.
Guys like Micko have been through it all and I think he is really suited to the new role. Munster will benefit a lot from him as he brings a lot to the table.
I wish him well and I have no doubt he will be a big success. He will certainly put in the hours and give it his all, because that's what he has always done. It is a very good appointment.
